About the SF2
Keep it simple! This was the philosophy for the development of the 1st SF2 which seems to have been achieved. In comparison to other units the SF2 is straight forward, compact and stream lined. Looking closely at the rebreather one can see the counter lung is integrated into a carbon fibre body of the rebreather. This idea came from its predecessor the pSCR SF1.

Currently most rebreathers position the counter lung over the shoulder and on to the chest. This makes the transition from OC to CCR configuration difficult. Stages must be positioned differently, often they sit too low, so trim and stream lining are affected. The positioning of various accessories, such as back up lights must be re-rigged to allow for the position of the counter lungs.

With the new positioning of the counter lung on the bottom of the rebreather incorporating the over pressure valve the removal of water is very simple. The centre section of the SF2 contains the following devices,

Manual add bypass if fitted feeds small volumes of gas either diluent or oxygen into the unit which means the diver can manually dive the system. The ADV valve is sited on the right hand side, this being activated by the counter lung when depleted of gas.

Above the centre section is housed the 2.2 kg CO2 scrubber which in turn is surrounded by the carbon fibre tube. Tools are not necessary to assemble or disassemble the SF2, in fact most fittings can be opened and closed by hand. On the top the head of the SF2 consists of 3 oxygen sensors, solenoid valve and battery box. With its positioning very little condensation after a dive is noted near or on the components. You will also note the breathing hoses are connected at a slight angle allowing for a more straight forward and comfortable fit for the diver.

The outer structure of the SF2 being made from carbon fibre is strong and light weight as the various components are fitted in a long tube the attachment of cylinders is straight forward allowing 3 litre to whatever size is appropriate for the dive. The SF2 is aimed at the advanced sports diver or trimix technical diver and having incorporated the counter lungs in the carbon fibre tube makes it clutter free in the chest area. The manual adds are located on the waist band with the ability to connect off board gas again removing clutter from the chest area.
