Peter McCamley cruising the wreck of MV Loredan

Peter McCamley cruising the wreck of MV Loredan. Living the dream, one dangly piece of a equipment at a time ;-)

On April 10th, 1943, an Italian convoy from Cagliari to Maddalena, consisting of Italian Navy transports/cargos LOREDAN (1.357 grt), ISONZO (3.336 grt) and ENTELLA (2.891 grt), escorted by the minesweepers 29 and MAS-507, were attacked 10 miles off Cagliari, Sardinia by the British submarine HMS SAFARI.

LOREDAN sank almost immediately with nearly all her crew. ISONZO was hit by 2 torpedoes. 4 died and 18 crew went missing. ENTELLA stayed afloat and ran aground off Torre Finocchia. HMS SAFARI returned the next day to finish the ESTELLA with another 2 torpedoes.
